this made me feel less insane for crying after my first placement. The email templates alone have saved me so much stress. Worth it for students that don't really have a suport network.

Thank you for sharing this. You are absolutely not insane for crying after your first placement. I'd be more worried if you didn't feel something. It's a huge adjustment and nobody talks about that enough. So glad the email templates have taken some of the stress off your plate. That's exactly why I included them; sometimes just knowing what to say (and how to say it) makes everything feel a bit more manageable. And your last point is a big part of why I wrote this. Not everyone has people around them who've been through it before, so if the book can fill even a little bit of that gap, then it's done its job. Thanks again for the kind words.

Its good

Ok so I'm about to apply for grad programs and I was fully winging it until I read part 4. I didn't even know hospitals had strategic plans you could just google?? I used the hospital Worksheet for my top three preferences and I feel so much more prepared than I did before (still haven't heard back though). The STAR builder is also really handy. I do wish I'd found this earlier in my degree because a lot of the first year stuff would have saved me some breakdowns lol. The book itself is really nice quality too, the pages are thick and the cover feels lovely. If you write another book, I'll be ready to buy,.

This is such a lovely review, thank you! So glad Part 4 worked well for your grad applications. The hospital hunter strategic plan is one of those tips that sounds too easy to be true, but it genuinely makes such a difference. And yeah, fair enough on wishing you'd found it earlier; I reckon that's the story for a lot of us. Half the reason I wrote it was because I wished someone had handed me something like this in first year instead of letting me figure it all out the hard way. Really happy you noticed the print quality too. I was pretty fussy about how it felt in your hands, so that means a lot. And if another book happens, you'll be the first to know!

P.S. Fingers crossed you hear back with good news soon. Please let me know how you go in your applications @nurseaura.au on any social media.

Really good read and I've told a few people in my cohort about it. The networking stuff and the chapter on professional bodies were things I had zero clue about. Only giving 4 stars because I would have liked more clinical reference type stuff but I think that's just not what this book is going for. The sticker is cute btw, got it on my laptop.

Thanks so much for the kind words, and for spreading the word to your cohort. That honestly means the world to me. Really glad the networking and professional bodies chapters were useful. That's exactly the sort of stuff I wished someone had told me earlier on.
Totally fair call on the clinical reference side of things. You're spot on; it wasn't quite the direction I was going with this one, but it's good feedback and something I'll keep in mind (for a future edition). And stoked you like the sticker! Love that it's found a home on your laptop.

Bought this after a really bad placement week and honestly it felt like someone just got it. The car cry chapter?? That was me every single day of my aged care placement. I've already used the bad shift debrief template twice. Also the bookmark is so cute. Also first review by the looks of it. Whoever is running this book please consider showing your face a little more!

Thanks so much for your review. It means so much to me that you found value in my book. Aged care placement was the hardest for me in terms of shock to the system, but I did learn so much. If this grows, I may be a little more public about who I am.
